In July 1939, Picasso went with Dora Maar (photographer, painter, lover and muse of Picasso’s) to an apartment in Antibes (French riviera) lent to them by Man Ray. Picasso completed Night Fishing in Antibes in August, an interpretation of his nocturnal walks. The scene was inspired by Mediterranean lamplight fishing.[d]

I just love the liminal moon quality of this.
