‘Sleepers’ The drawing is influenced by a few things. The feel is an homage to the South London artist and mystic Austin Spare who arguably introduced the term ‘automatic drawing’ to modern art circles (predating surrealism - even hailed as the father of it). The floating heads are a selection from my ongoing series of ‘sleepers’ sketches drawn on the daily commute into London Bridge. The goddess dream-herder figure kind of insinuated herself into the image and brought a completely unexpected narrative to the piece, which I embraced as a gift from my subconscious.
